Fabric Store closing

The art store is cleaning out its art supplies
The fabric store is closing down
The gentleman's shoe shop now supplies jogging pants
Starbucks becomes the best cafe

The warehouse turns into State Street Lofts
So we just buy cars, get dogs, and try to find jobs with more than twoweeks vacation.
Now I own a mattress and my cupboards are full of food.
Chicken broth in the freezer
Ready and waiting to thaw my uncertainty

Something's not right
On paper I'm prepared for life, prepared to make a difference
But my wallet's full of my own business cards
And my mailbox is full of notices of growing debt.

I want to be that person I dreamed of
Did I imagine life bigger than what it actually is?
This is my question for you my friends
Is the end of Horowitz Bros. the reality?
